Windows 7 And Windows 8.1 Are No Longer Supported By Microsoft

All good things must come to an end and sadly this time around Microsoft is bidding farewell to the beloved Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems.

Starting today Microsoft will no longer provide any kind of technical or security updates for Windows 7 and 8.1.

Even though technically the support for Windows 7 ended almost three years ago on January 14, 2020, Microsoft was still running the Extended Security Update program for Windows 7 Professional and Enterprise editions.

You will be surprised to know that even in December 2022 around 11.2% of Windows PCs were still running Windows 7 while Windows 8.1 has a comparatively smaller market share of around 2.6%.

If you have been holding up to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 it’s finally time to either upgrade your PC to the latest Windows 10 or Windows 11 OS or buy a new PC that supports Windows 11.

Luckily, Windows 7 got a Farewell Gift as Microsoft silently pushed Secure Boot support for Windows 7 with a few requirements.

Windows 10 on the other hand will still be supported until October 2025.
